Five-star housebuilder Barratt Developments, which includes the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has announced that it is to launch 26 new developments this year, building 4,084 new homes and supporting 2,242 jobs region-wide.
This year, £501,419,388 will be invested into new sites across Yorkshire, creating 4,084 brand-new two, three, four and five-bedroom homes. This instalment of new developments will provide work for a number of disciplines, from construction trades such as bricklayers, electricians and landscapers through to head office support positions.
In addition to contributing to the regional job market, Barratt Developments will also continue to support the local environments in which it builds. During 2018 alone, 85,020 trees and shrubs were planted or retained on developments and a further 21.9 hectares of greenspace was created through publicly accessible open space and private gardens, equivalent to around 297 tennis courts.
Daniel Smith, Managing Director of Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, commented: “We’re very pleased to be able to contribute to the local economy in Yorkshire, and create a wealth of jobs across the region. We’re excited to be creating 14 new developments, continuing to build communities across the region. We’re committed to investing in and supporting our local tradesmen, and look forward to working with them over the next 12 months to build even more quality homes.”
Ian Ruthven, Managing Director of Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, commented: “We’re delighted to continue contributing to the economy by providing local job opportunities for local people across the Yorkshire region. We’re excited to see construction progress on each of the 12 new sites and look forward to working with dedicated tradesmen and women over the next year to build more quality homes.”
