The entries in the latest Good Beer Guide have been announced and, for the first time, all Beerhouses pubs have been included! Beerhouses is a small, independent pub group of 5 pubs (plus a private hire venue), whose head office is based in Dewsbury. The pubs are located in Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Wakefield, and Stalybridge.
Beerhouses is no stranger to the Good Beer Guide, with Stalybridge Buffet Bar having appeared in the ‘beer bible’ for 33 years and The West Riding in Dewsbury for 29 years. The Sportsman in Huddersfield has appeared in the guide for 14 years and The Cricketers in Wakefield for 12 years. Now the newest pub to the group, The County in Huddersfield, has earned its first entry, that makes it a clean sweep.

“Even though we calculate we’ve had 89 entries in the Good Beer Guide so far, we never take it for granted and we’re hugely proud to get the ‘full house’ now that The County has claimed its place in there too. Our beer offering is at the core of what we have built the business on so it’s fantastic to get the recognition.
Real ale and craft beer aficionados demand high standards, so we always aim to serve the perfect pint every time. This is confirmation that we’re doing pretty well on that score!”
As well as a consistently diverse range of beers on offer in Beerhouses pubs, the pubs also lay on special events around their beer offerings, including a forthcoming Fresh Hop Fest at The Sportsman, celebrating the short window of time when beer can be made from fresh hops, and Oktoberfest, which is currently being celebrated in The Sportsman and The County.
The group will be celebrating 30 years as a business in January 2024 with a number of beer collaborations with breweries being ‘brewed up’ to mark the occasion.
