The newly qualified apprentices each worked at different Barratt Developments sites across Yorkshire to develop their skills while undertaking their programme of study

Ben Eichenberger, 19, was based at Ashmeade Park in Pontefract and began his apprenticeship in 2015

Daniel Stillings, 31, worked at Castle Vale in Pilley, while Lee Summerfield, 20, put his theory into practice at Evolution in Waverley, both starting their apprenticeships in 2016

Over the past ten years Barratt Developments Yorkshire West has taken on a total of 39 apprentices, demonstrating the company’s dedication to providing pathways into the construction industry, and often jobs at the end of the programme

The scheme aims to address the skills shortage the construction industry is currently faced with by offering those out of college the chance to become experts in their chosen field of work, while earning

Barratt Developments’ Apprenticeship Programme has been recognised by industry bodies as the best of its kind in recent years including the CITB Apprenticeship Awards, the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers, and National Apprenticeship Service’s BT Macro Employer of the Year Award

Darren Johnson, Construction Director at Barratt Developments commented:

“We are so proud of the three apprentices who have graduated from our apprenticeship programme. They have each learnt valuable skills that will carry them through the rest of their careers. They have seen first hand what is required of a Barratt team member, and we’re delighted to be welcoming all three of the graduates back in to permanent positions when their existing contracts end in late August. We look forward to watching them continue to build their careers with us.”
