Sue Bancroft, Group People Director for the MGI Group, has secured finalist status for the prestigious honour of ‘Business Woman of the Year’, at the highly-regarded Women of the Year Luncheon and Awards 2023.
Sue is an experienced HR leader with over 23 years management experience within the logistics industry and more recently, within manufacturing. Sue previously held the role of HR Director at Tuffnells Parcels Express, a £170m logistics company where she led a well-respected, commercially focused HR team that added significant value to the business, and was proud of the culture change that she and her team had driven.
Amongst her other major achievements, Sue is a Fellow of the Institute of Couriers, former Chair of the Institute of Couriers Education Committee and most recently, has joined Sheffield Hallam University Business School as an Executive in Residence.
Throughout her successful career, Sue has worked in male dominated environments and has seen the difficulties that women can encounter to have the confidence to stand up for themselves. As a role model for women, Sue is passionate about helping women to recognise their abilities and strengths, enabling them to create their own opportunities. Sue’s achievements in this area include the creation of leadership programmes such as the Aspirational Women Programme in her previous company, which gave women across the business a voice, gave them more confidence in their roles and enabled those that wanted to, to progress into more senior roles.
Commenting on being shortlisted for the Business Woman of the Year Award Sue said: “I was really surprised to have been shortlisted to the final 10. I entered the award to see how far I could go and did not expect to be a finalist. What being a finalist demonstrates is that you have to push yourself to try different things as you never know where it will lead. I feel really proud to have reached the final with the other finalists and I have already made some great connections”
Taking place on Friday 13th October 2023 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, Women of the Year Luncheon & Awards, is a celebration of achievement which promotes positive female role models who provide inspiration across all areas of society and the business community.
