The Chairman of a popcorn production company in South Yorkshire sent his staff a special thank you on Valentine’s Day.

Paul Gregg who founded SY Foods Retail Ltd in Dinnington, has been illustrating cartoons of how he and his wife have been spending lockdown together.

A book of their journey is set to be published later this year but 70 staff at the factory are getting an exclusive copy of “Lockdown Love” to celebrate Valentine’s Day along with some red roses and chocolate.

The gifts are to thank them for working through the pandemic to provide millions of tubs of popcorn to families who have been staying at home.

Mr Gregg, a former West End theatre impresario owning theatres and cinemas across the UK, says he wanted to do something a bit different to mark the occasion:

“Even with cinemas closed, it’s been a really busy time for us as the demand for our “Big Night In” popcorn has grown due to families enjoying their own movie nights.

“Everyone at the company has worked really hard to get our products onto the supermarket shelves and I just thought my drawings would bring a smile to people’s faces during what is a difficult time for us all.

“It’s just a small gesture to thank everyone from our managers and popcorn chefs to the whole production team and support staff for their friendship and encouragement.”

Scott Hall, Managing Director, SY Foods Retail Ltd said:

“We’ve got a really loyal and hardworking team here and a culture you’d expect at an established family business.

“It was a nice surprise for everyone and helped raise a smile on Valentine’s Day.”

SY Foods Retail Ltd is expected to sell more than nine million units over the next twelve months.
