Spotting mini beasts! Local housebuilder inspires children to care for wildlife through RSPB partnership

Barratt Homes is inspiring local primary school children to look after wildlife by donating a bee and bug house, and wildlife spotting sheets, to Woodmansey CE Primary School, following the recent renewal of its RSPB partnership.

Helena Caulfield, Sales Adviser at Barratt Homes’ nearby Cherry Tree Court development in Woodmansey, recently visited the primary school to gift the pupils a house for visiting insects in their school gardens. The children, aged seven and eight years old, were then provided with activity spotting sheets and given the chance to explore their playgrounds, spotting the wildlife in their local area.

Barratt Homes recently announced its renewal of a unique partnership with the RSPB for another three years. The partnership aims to deliver more wildlife friendly housing across Hull, helping to give nature a home.

Bethan Nicholls, Head of School at Woodmansey CE Primary School, commented: “It was brilliant to have Helena visit the school and inspire the children to have an interest in local wildlife. They really enjoyed searching for creepy crawlies, bees and butterflies and are excited see what they can spot in and around their insect house during the year, which is now pride of place in our school grounds.”

Helena Caulfield, Sales Adviser at Barratt Homes’ Cherry Tree Court development commented: “It was lovely to visit Woodmansey Primary School to encourage the children to get out of the classroom and spot wildlife. Here at Barratt Homes, we are committed to encouraging nature friendly best practice that helps people, plants and animals become healthier and happier. We were delighted to celebrate our partnership with the RSPB with this donation.”
