Yorkshire Coast BID is supporting an initiative that will help local businesses in partnership with the multiple award-winning digital platform ShopAppy.com and business consultancy firm Yorkshire Business in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. The scheme will facilitate new, local delivery options for local businesses allowing communities to shop local from their own home.
The ShopAppy.com platform enables local businesses in the Yorkshire Coast region to sell products and special packages in one place online. Yorkshire Coast residents can order from local independent shops, restaurants via the ShopAppy delivery partners and receive same-day home delivery for the next three months or buy E-vouchers to use at a later date. The scheme also allows customers to order over the phone or simply click to order for collect or delivery.
Yorkshire in Business, is also offering its services by providing on the ground support with tailored approaches from implementation, maximising opportunities for businesses in Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington to help spread the word to the local community.
Kerry Carruthers, Chief Executive, at Yorkshire Coast BID comments: “Our role is to support our business members and promote the coast. We have acted quickly to get this partnership with ShopAppy.com off the ground and support the general public with supplies from the Yorkshire Coast’s amazing independents straight to their door.
“In addition to offering products for immediate purchase, residents will be able to order ‘buy now, use later’ E-vouchers from local businesses, in particular from service-based businesses like hairdressers, beauty salons, restaurants, bars and cafes that could see numbers drop as people are required to social distance or self-isolate.
“I urge the general public to use the new ShopAppy.com service and support our amazing independent business sector.”
Founder of ShopAppy.com, Jackie Mulligan adds “We hope and expect this pandemic will end soon, and that we can minimise the long-term impacts of lost business for when the peak is over. This gives us all a chance to spend locally even if we cannot do so in person right now, and support our friends and business contacts for the long-term health of the Yorkshire Coast community.”
Jennifer Crowther, CEO at Yorkshire in Business and High Street Champion, says: “Earlier this week all businesses saw a decline in customers overnight, causing a huge amount of uncertainty and concern about their future, many of whom were not prepared. We have expanded our support to businesses on the ground to cope with increased demand and feel that this platform is a great opportunity for businesses to reach customers during this time.”
