SERIAL ENTREPRENEUR HELPS BEST FRIENDS BUILD SIX-FIGURE CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS IN NORTH YORKSHIRE

Best Friends Build Six-Figure Construction Business in North Yorkshire.

Chad Scatchard and Max Scott have launched Elegant Projects Ltd, and they’re already taking bookings until the end of 2026.

A lot of people are still figuring out their next steps while Chad Scatchard and Max Scott are running a construction company with projects worth up to £100,000.

Chad, and his business partner Max launched Elegant Projects Ltd earlier this year, offering everything from renovations and extensions to full property refurbishments across Thirsk, Northallerton and the surrounding areas. Within months, they’ve secured enough work to fill their diary until Q4 of 2026 and opened their first office.

“People sadly expect tradespeople to cut corners or take the easy route,” says Chad. “We’re proving that wrong on every job. Max and I have complementary skills, what one of us spots, the other checks. Nothing gets missed.”

Max adds: “We grew up around construction. We know what good work looks like, and we know what customers actually want, clear communication, no mess left behind, and the job done properly the first time.”

Unlike single-trade contractors, both Chad and Max are multi-skilled, meaning customers avoid the coordination headache of hiring the likes of separate electricians, plasterers and carpenters. Projects ranging from small building jobs through to single story extensions and full-property transformations are managed entirely in-house.

The company’s modern approach extends beyond their skillset. Elegant Projects offer transparent fixed-price quotes with no hidden costs.

“We’ve had customers tell us they’ve never had builders communicate like we do,” says Chad. “That shouldn’t be rare. It should be standard.”

Max comes from an entrepreneurial family, his father built a successful business empire in the home improvement sector and has financially invested in the pairs business venture. Max said: “My Dad built a business up from nothing and he was my inspiration to do the same.” Max’s father, Stuart Scott’s knowledge and experience are invaluable, but both Chad and Max were determined to forge their own path rather than join an established company.

“We wanted to prove we could do this ourselves,” explains Chad. “Not because anyone doubted us, but because we needed to know we could build something from scratch. Every client we win, every project we complete, that’s ours and we’re proud of that.”

The pair are now exploring grant funding opportunities to expand their capabilities and invest in equipment that will allow them to take on even larger commercial projects.

Their success comes against a backdrop of chronic skills shortages in the construction industry. According to the Construction Industry Training Board, the sector needs to recruit 251,500 additional workers by 2028 to meet demand.

“There’s plenty of work out there for people who want it,” says Chad. “We’re proof that you don’t need to go to university to build a successful business. You need skills, work ethic, and a reputation for doing what you say you’ll do.”

Elegant Projects Ltd is currently accepting new project enquiries for early 2027, and due to their fast start they have already recruited another building team with a limited number of slots available for 2026. Find us on Facebook today.
